Late Lavender
A couple of paintings done on the same day, one in the morning, one in the afternoon on a recent trip to the Haut Verdon. I stayed near the small town of Entrevennes that sits on a high plateau surrounded by the vast farms of lavender. At this time of year the acres of purple had disappeared, I presume cut and harvested, and leaving the greenery and the geomety of the lavender fields.

These two paintings were on the day after the lunar eclipse. The sun set on one side of the plateau behind Mont Ventoux off in the distance and the lunar spectacle started on the other side of the plateau with the moon in the shadow of the earth. A bit of sky gazing, sleep and then out with the easel on a warm, slightly overcast day.
